so much depends

so much depends

a white picnic

chickens
Well, not really, but Marie and I so enjoyed watching these hens while we were eating breakfast that I decided to take their picture.  (And if you are at all familiar with William Carlos Williams, maybe the poem made you smile.  :)  We have been enjoying some cool, wet summer days lately.
Willem likes to wear his "rain goggles" when he plays in the rain.
Our children's favorite kitty, whom they recently named "Pearl."
The planter on the table was my Mother's Day gift.  Just the right shape it was, my husband informed me, to fit in the saddlebags of his motorcycle on the way home from school one day.  :)
God's gentle showers bring beautiful flowers!
"Sunday Best"
We were actually ready for church a little early yesterday!

(Oh, and in case you were wondering, Reuben died.  He is buried underneath a brick by the mulberry tree, near his "sister" and next to the strawberry patch.  When we picked strawberries Friday afternoon, Leah brought a trowel along and dug up Reuben to see if he had started to decompose, and then reburied him...)

Found

Meet Reuben, the latest of our animal friends.
(No, we aren't sure that "he" is a male - as Leah reminds me, "You never can tell with baby birds.")

B.J. is back to repairing/ripping apart campers for the summer, and he and Jim found Reuben and his "sister" (though you never can tell with baby birds), Robin, on the floor of Jim's shop yesterday.

Regretfully, this morning Robin will be buried as soon as Willem and Marie are awake so that they don't miss out on the excitement.
Leah, of course, is in her element.
