Of Such is the Kingdom

Ella Marie

We are in Michigan this weekend, after learning on Tuesday that our niece, Ella Marie, who was scheduled to be born by c-section on Friday, had passed away.  Her parents are B.J.'s brother Alex and his wife Amy.  Amy underwent a c-section on Wednesday, and in God's providence we were able to be here for the visitation on Friday evening and the funeral on Saturday.  Ella's death appears to have been caused by a twisted umbilical cord, which subsequently got tangled around her foot, cutting off the blood flow and nutrients necessary to sustain her life.
Through all the grief we have experienced during the past few days, we are comforted above all by the knowledge that our Father holds us and those He loves in the palm of His hand and that He sovereignly controls all things for the good of His people and for His glory.  He wonderfully created little Ella in Amy's womb, and He sovereignly called her Home at His appointed time. What a blessing our covenant children are, and how fleeting is our earthly life!  Yet, what a mighty God we serve!
Please pray that that mighty God will strengthen Alex and Amy in the days that lie ahead.

"Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God."  Mark 10:14

  1. Keeping BJ's brother and wife in our prayers as well as your family. Babies truly are miracles from God. May God give you peace and comfort knowing that this little child is now with Him in glory. What better place could she be.
